🧰 Remove FMI from MacBook
🔧 If you have the MacBook:
🍎 Go to Apple Menu → System Preferences
💻 For macOS Catalina 10.15 and Monterey 10.16:
- Select Apple ID
- Go to iCloud
- ✅ Uncheck Find My Mac
- 🔐 Enter your Apple ID password
- 👉 Click Continue
📦 If you don’t have the MacBook (e.g., sent in for repair with Find My enabled):
🌐 Go to iCloud.com and sign in with the Apple ID linked to the device
🔍 Select Find My
🖥️ Choose All Devices and locate the device you want to remove
❌ Click Remove This Device
⚠️ Do not select "Erase This Device" unless absolutely necessary – this will delete all data and is irreversible
🔄 If "Remove This Device" doesn’t appear:
- You may need to select Erase This Device first
- Once the device is erased, the option to Remove This Device will appear
⚠️ Note: This will delete all data from the device
🆘 If you no longer have access to the Apple ID:
- Visit Apple Support
- Submit a request to remove Activation Lock
- You’ll need to prove ownership of the device (e.g., with a receipt)
✅ Once FMI has been removed:
📣 Important: Let the repair shop know that Find My Mac has been deactivated
